Who We Are
My Name is Dan Apted. I have lived in Anchorage Alaska since 1972. I am a trained Metrology Technician. Don’t be confused, it has nothing to do with the Weather. Metrologists are trained to measure things. Weights, Fluids, Pressure, Distance, Time, are a few of them. By using basic physical laws and known equipment we are very good at extrapolating very accurate answers to very complex questions. I have put this training to good use
over the last 38 years as I have repaired everything from TV’s and Stereos, to Aviation Communications and Helicopter Blade Trackers, to Missile Tracking systems and Atomic Clocks. I also own a small computer repair company. I am very good with numbers. I am a very good problem solver.
I become involved with projects I believe in, but only if I think I can be of benefit to the cause. I call it "tilting at windmills" because it seems so fruitless at times to speak with the politicians. They seldom seem to want what is best for their constituents. But I had a success the other day. My first big push was over 20 years ago. I was vocal and worked indirectly for Air Force Space Command in their PMEL laboratory. I saw that there were experiments too dangerous to work on here on earth. Likewise there was a need to bring some things back to earth and the Space Shuttle was too big and expensive for the task. So I lobbied my legislators and NASA and eventually was gratified by the recently launched Air Force space plane. The X37B is up and running. Finally.... Windmills can be defeated. I am no longer involved with the project, but it still seems like a win.
I heat my home with wood heat, or wood pellet heat but I am not a total greenie. I sometimes get lazy and use the gas furnace.

I also like to invent things. That has been helpfull to me when it came to the design, manufacturing and selling of Wood Pellet Mills, here are a couple of my machines.

I am also a pilot and I have been flying around Alaska for the last 30 years in my own plane. Here is my most recent bird. A 180hp Cessna 172, circa 1970.

In 2006 I was the Alaska State Poker Champion playing Texas Holdem. Got a home game going, let me know. I like to play.
